An operation involving Ukrainian drones resulted in the rescue of two soldiers who had been captured by Russian troops in the Northern Slobozhanshchyna sector.

The incident took place in April, after soldiers from a neighboring brigade were taken prisoner during a Russian attack, prompting the command to request immediate support.

The response came from a team from the 21st Mechanized Brigade, equipped with VAMPIRE drones. The operators quickly prepared the unmanned aircraft and headed to the area where the captured soldiers were being taken by Russian forces.

According to the account, the distinctive sound of the drone flying over the area caused confusion among the Russian troops, who abandoned the prisoners and attempted to escape. Ukrainian operators pursued the enemy soldiers and neutralized the group, allowing the two rescued service members to return safely to their units.

According to the information released, this was the first time that a rescue of Ukrainian soldiers using a drone had taken place in that specific sector of the front line. The mission was led by a 23-year-old operator known by the codename “Rubin,” using the VAMPIRE drone developed by the Ukrainian company SkyFall.
